Rashidah Khan-Haqq, M.Phil
Position: Manager – Environmental Health and Analytical Services
Mrs.Rashidah Khan-Haqq is an Environmental Chemist with a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Chemistry from the University of the West Indies. She has over 15 years’ experience in Environmental Project Management, Occupational Health and Safety Assessments, Environmental Audits and Environmental Analytical Writing. She currently serves as the Manager of Environmental Solutions Limited’s Environmental Health and Analytical Services (EHAS) Division and is responsible for the overall day to day management of the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory, occupational health and safety department and the department’s 25 member and growing team.
In addition to overseeing the operations of EHAS, Mrs. Khan-Haqq also coordinates and conducts various environmental assessments and fieldwork which includes, but is not limited to, the collection of soil, groundwater, surface water and air samples, providing solutions to problems of varying complexities, as well as developing and executing training sessions. She is experienced in the monitoring and surveying of construction sites, wastewater treatment plants, commercial and industrial organizations of varying sizes, and has worked on and/or managed various pollution remediation projects.
Mrs. Khan-Haqq has a strong aptitude for interpreting technical data and presenting appropriate recommendations. She is a trained ISO 17025 assessor, and her auditing experience consists of both laboratory and environmental assessments.
Mrs. Khan-Haqq is a member of the Board of Directors of Environmental Solutions Limited.
Kearion Simpson
Position: Team Lead/Microbiologist
Ms. Kearion Simpson is a trained analyst with over seventeen years’ experience conducting chemical and microbiological analyses on a variety of matrices such as food, air, environmental swabs, water & wastewater. She has significant experience developing and maintaining Quality Management Systems and adhering to quality control procedures which allows her to ensure that the work she produces, and by extension the laboratory, is accurate, traceable, and reproducible. Ms. Simpson’s experience in Quality Management Systems has also allowed her to lead and/or provide support to the team in both internal and external audits.
As Team Lead, Ms. Simpson is instrumental in ensuring that the laboratory’s Quality Management System and all applicable standards of quality are met and maintained. Her training in implementing and maintaining the ISO 17025 standard, as well as HACCP Auditing, Documenting of HACCP Prerequisite Programs and Development of HACCP Plans allows her to be of support to the manufacturing sector.
Ms. Simpson is a vital member of the ESL team and has contributed significantly to its growth and development over the years. Her experience, customer service skills, keen eye to detail and her passion for quality makes her a valued member of the team.
Monique Mighty
Position: Quality Control Officer
Monique Mighty is Quality Control Officer and she holds a BSc. in Applied Science from University of Technology with a major in Environmental Science. She is an Analytical Microbiologist and the Deputy Technical Manager for the Microbiology Laboratory. She specializes in Food, Water and Environmental Microbiology. She has training in food safety systems including HACCP/GMP and other ISO management system. Ms. Mighty is a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual trained by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA). She is tasked with ensuring that the operations of the Microbiology lab are consistent with the requirements of EHAS’ Quality System and other standards. This includes but is not limited to; the upkeep of reference microorganisms, research and development of new analytical methods/techniques. Ms. Mighty is also a client manager who is responsible for the liaison with clients re sample analysis, sample handling and reporting. Her areas of expertise includes:Microbiological Investigations, Assessment of threats to Food Safety, Microbiological, Quality Control and Laboratory Audits
Trevaughn Thompson
Position: Analyst
Mr. Trevaughn Thompson is a Chemical Analyst in the Environmental Solutions Limited’s EHAS Quality & Environmental Health Lab and has over 10 years experience working in a lab.
Mr. Thompson has a keen interest in graphic design, which allows him to combine his analytical skills with his creativity to produce stunning designs.
His dedication to academic excellence has not gone unnoticed, and he received the Canadian Association scholarship for outstanding grades in his first year of college. Mr.Thompson is currently pursuing a degree in Physics, which he finds be both challenging and fascinating.
He has a love for science and mathematics which started early on in life, and during high school, he received a Caribbean Award in technical drawing, which further fueled his passion for technical fields.
When not busy with work or school, he enjoys spending time with his family, staying in, and listening to music
Vianzo Rowe
Position: Sampling Technician
Rowe is a sampling technician with training in sampling techniques that meets international standards. He has over twenty years’ experience collecting samples of various matrices including air, water, and soil from different sites across Jamaica.
Mr. Rowe is a key member of the QEHL team. He is responsible for ensuring samples are transported to the laboratory in the time and conditions required to ensure quality data is obtained from the analysis. Mr. Rowe has demonstrated the ability and willingness to complete moderately labour intensive tasks and also perform basic maintenance of equipment used in the field.
Valerie Paisley-Downer
Position: Lab Technician
Mrs. Paisley-Downer is a Laboratory Technician in the Environmental Solutions Limited’s EHAS Quality and Environmental Health Lab and is responsible for the maintenance of the Microbiology Laboratory environment. She plays an integral role in the daily operation by assisting with media and reagents preparation, equipment maintenance activities. She participates in, and assists, with the execution of training exercises and conducts quality control checks ensuring that the testing environment meet the requirements necessary for analysis.
Mrs. Paisley-Downer is also responsible for inventory management thus ensuring that supplies are always available. Additionally, she assists with the receiving and examination of reagents and equipment to ensure they meet the labs specific requirements, at all times ensuring that the Quality Management System is adhered to. Her constant determination to complete any given task makes her an important asset to the ESL team.
Trevor T. Mighty
Position: Laboratory Technician
Mr. Mighty is a Laboratory Technician whose primary focus is report preparation and providing other administrative assistance such as maintaining good client relations with both internal and external clients.
He is trained in document management and is competent with the use of computer system and the quality control procedures of the lab.
Shedrack Walker
Position: Laboratory Assistant
Mr. Shedrack Walker works as a Laboratory Assistant in the ESL 17025 accredited Laboratory. He is tasked with aiding the Microbiological Analysts by preparing glassware, reagent and media. He also plays a critical role in conducting quality control checks of the analytical environment.
Mr. Walker is a detail-oriented and efficient worker. He has a pleasant personality with a ready smile.
Jaidene Webster-Jones– BSc.
Position: Quality Control Officer
Mrs. Jaidene Webster-Jones is a graduate of the University of the West Indies who majored in Environmental Chemistry and minored in Psychology. During her tenure at the University of the West Indies, she was awarded multiple academic commendations and inducted into the Chemistry Honours Society. She was also the recipient of the Avinash Potluri Prize in Animal Diversity from the Department of Life Sciences for the 2015/2016 academic year and a recipient of the Ambassador Glen A. Holden Bursary.
Her role at ESL involves participating in research and process improvement exercises as well as collecting, inspecting and analyzing samples from a variety of matrices. Mrs. Webster-Jone is very passionate about the environment and is involved in numerous community activities.
Travis Garnett, B.Sc.
Position: Microbiology Analyst
Mr. Travis Garnett is driven, friendly and dedicated to personal growth and success – He is the holder of a BSc. In Biotechnology from the University of the West Indies, Mona and is a trained Microbiology
Analyst, Sampling Technician and Client Manager. Mr. Garnett is tasked with ensuring that clients receive timely results of an exceptional quality in keeping with the ISO 17025 accreditation.
As an Analyst he specializes in conducting microbiological analyses on water, food and environmental samples. Mr. Garnett has further competencies is molecular biology techniques as well as plant tissue culture.

Nicholas Harris
Position: Administrative Assistant – EHAS
Mr. Nicholas Harris is employed to Environmental Solutions Limited as an Administrative Assistant and Junior Procurement Officer for the Environmental Health and Analytical Services Division.
He has several years experience as a customer service repersentative, telemarketer, sales and marketing representative and public relations. Mr. Harris is passionate about professionalism and ethics and principles.
He loves people and is a champion in providing humanitarian aid for all and is a Youth Leader.
Nicholas McCalla
Position: Senior Analyst
Mr. Nicholas McCalla is a graduate of the University of the West Indies who majored in Pharmacology. He was awarded the Government Exhibition Award during his tenure at The University of the West Indies.
Mr. McCalla is a Senior Analyst in the ESL’s Environmental Health and Analytical Services Division – Chemistry Lab and is tasked with the day-to-day analyses of various parameters on water samples, sample collection and client management.
He is also an aspiring author, publishing fictional novels on online platforms such as Amazon.
Reena M. McKenzie -M.B.A (Hons.)
Position: Quality Management Systems Manager
Ms.Reena McKenzie is the Quality Management Systems (QMS) Manager for the Environmental Health and Analytical Services Division at ESL. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Chemistry (Major) and Food Chemistry (Minor) as well as a Master of Business Administration post graduate degree in Banking and Finance (Distinction) from the Mona School of Business and Management at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.
She has garnered significant experience working as an analytical chemist with a background in analytical testing using gas/liquid chromatography instrumentations (GC-MS, LC-Pickering, GC/ECD and LC-QQQ), method research and development, personnel training and management, internal audits and ensuring compliance with international quality standards and industry regulations.
Her main responsibilities include the daily overseeing of the ISO/IEC 17025 accredited Quality & Environmental Health Laboratory, where she ensures that all activities are compliant with the applicable standards and industry best practices.
She actively participates in environmental and community outreach projects through her membership in the Leo Club of Mona and has gained experience working as a consultant on projects, budgets, and curriculum proposals. Ms. McKenzie is an avid outdoors person who enjoys hiking, exercising, and eating good food. She is a proud Glenmuir High School alumnus, whose mantra is “Live, Love, Laugh and have Faith!”
Risan Ford, B.Sc.
Position: Chemistry Analyst
Risan Ford is a dedicated Chemical Analyst with a passion for applying science to real-world environmental and forensic challenges. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, majoring in Applied Chemistry with a minor in General Chemistry, from the University of the West Indies. Always eager to expand her skill set, Risan is currently pursuing a Master’s in Forensic Drug Chemistry at the University of Florida, blending her curiosity about chemistry with a focus on forensic applications.
At Environmental Solutions Limited, Risan’s role goes beyond just chemical analysis. She’s involved in everything from sample testing to quality control, ensuring environmental standards are met. She also lends her IT skills to support the company’s digital side, managing the domain, keeping an eye on social media activity, and maintaining internal systems. Known for her versatility and problem-solving approach, Risan is valued for her ability to bridge chemistry and IT, helping her team stay both scientifically rigorous and digitally connected.
Shanice Robinson
Position: Chemistry Analyst
Miss Shanice Robinson is a chemistry analyst employed in the Environmental Health and Analytical Services Division. As an analyst, Shanice is tasked with sample collection, client management as well as the analysis of various parameters.
She is currently focused on continuing her professional and personal development.
